Although
Alexander & Associates' focus is home entertainment, we have run benchmark
studies on personal computers and the Internet for several years. The PC
simply crosses too many common barriers for us to ignore, including video
games, cable, and downloadable movies. Following is a list of some of our
PC-specific research, but keep in mind that, in every study, we do examine
PCs and the Internet to some degree.
The 2000 Computer
Benchmark Study: Completed
in late February of 2000, our seventh annual Personal Computer Benchmark
Study was our most comprehensive ever. We looked at a broad range of issues,
including the rise of DVD-ROM, the effect of ISP rebates, and the extent
of hardware brand loyalty. Our primary participant this year was a leading
Wall Street investment research firm. If you would like more details or
have any questions about this study, email
us.
Monthly PC
Penetration: We track PC penetration in U.S. households
every week! Our data comes from consumers, not computer industry press
releases and hype. While our detailed predictions and analysis are available
only to subscribers, we do post a four week penetration average as a basic
reference tool. For more information, please contact
us.
Online Gaming
2000-2001 Forecasts: Our extensive coverage of the
PC market, combined with our continuous tracking of the videogame industry,
has resulted in our Online Gaming Forecasts. In light of the fact
that many believe hardware manufacturers' battle to win the videogame industry
will be fought online, many consider this breakthrough research. Contact
us for more information on this evolving product.
